Winter Hair Care

Winter Hair Care
Brrr!  Cold weather is something most people don’t look forward to. It can be tough dredging through rain, sleet and snow to finish a to-do list that warmer climates allow you to breeze through.  While, there are some challenges during winter, with Sisterlocks we can handle them with ease.

WINTERIZE IT!
The chill of winter brings a colder, dryer air quality.  We avoid the hawk like the plague by staying inside.  Our physical activity changes and we “winterize” our workouts by participating in “work-ins” – indoor activity like treadmills and exercise bikes to bring up the heart rate.  However, heated indoor spaces and freezing outdoor temperatures can really dry out the hair shafts. Don’t use winter as an excuse to shampoo less often!  Also, proper hydration of the body is important year round.

Challenge: Drying Conditions
Our hair, skin and scalp are affected by the elements.  The skin and scalp are usually dryer.  For instance, you may have noticed that you don’t change the frequency of washing your face in winter, yet your face seems dryer in the colder months.

Goal:  Maintain Moisture
Sisterlocks takes a “less is more”
approach to product usage. Because
there’s less humidity/moisture in
the air in winter it tricks some of
us into thinking we need to pile on
the products.  Wrong! You can actually
use less  product in cooler weather.

TIPS
Here are a few tips for using Sisterlocks products to keep your locks healthy and looking and feeling great:
  • Use the Sisterlocks Starter Shampoo whenever it’s time for a re-tightening.  This is a clarifying shampoo and great for locks at every stage.
  • Shampoo with Salon or Green Tea concentrated formulas. Their effective humectants draw moisture into the hair.
  • Periodic deep conditioning treatments with our Moisture Treatment or Reconstructor help guard against dryness.  Both can be used as a leave-in or deep conditioning treatment.
  • Apply a light mist of Herbal Spray Moisturizer whenever you want to add life and sheen to your locks between shampoos.
  • The Styling Spray offers a great hold for styles especially in damp weather.
  • Use Fresh Hair to freshen the scent of the hair and soothe a dry scalp after a workout and between shampoos.

I also put a couple teaspoons of the Moisture Treatment in 8 ounces of distilled water and use it to moisturize between shampoos. I ❤️ sisterlocks products.

I paid $ 550 for my sisterlocks, and I am having a time of my life. I love this journey, and I regret not starting sooner!

Aloe vera has many active ingredients and minerals that can help strengthen your hair. It has fatty acids and amino acids and is rich in vitamins A, B12, C, and E. These play a part in healthy hair follicles.

Keep hair washing to a minimum in the colder months. Shampooing only two or three times a week can help prevent your hair from drying out. When you do wash your hair, make sure that it is dry before you leave the house as cold air can damage wet strands.

I just got my sisterlocks install 2 days ago. My loctician said to wash after 10 days and come for tighten after 14 days. But my scalp is dry and itchy and my locks dry and dull. What can I do to moisturize and reduce the itchy scalp? Any insight will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
