Your journey is yours to own! As we all move onward developing and perfecting our purposes, I encourage you to remember that You are Essential! Our work as African American women is the sum total of many undertakings, I can attest to that. My journey to my own core values has been unexpected, enriching and full of conviction; which is why Sisterlocks was created and remains alive today. Great living examples like King; have challenged us to look inward and courageously reflect our inherent worth revealing what is essential and truly authentic. I have often asked myself what do I want every person who comes to Sisterlocks to learn? And that would be to be un- afraid to retrieve what the world has tried to deny. Celebrating MLK day 2017 in this way perpetuates his intention for us to thrive and strengthens our commitment to his memory. What a sacrifice he gave to us in living his essence, showing us that societal conflict can only be won by resolving inner conflict. Being unsteady with ourselves breeds instability in the world. II can say that being involved in beauty | activism and using my voice to win battles in our courts was my contribution to our civic struggles. It has been a labor of love and pride. As King has said many times in his legendary “Mountain Top” speech, “The Promise Land” is in our view. The victory is upon us. Sisterlocks I feel has been that beacon of light that so many women have followed to build a solid foundation. That is the victory lap we all can find joy in every day as we look in the mirror. Looking back at my early writings, I can recall my first volume of the That Hair Thing that our hair fashion techniques are not really about hair. They are reflections of how we choose to live our lives. King compelled us to be the “Best” at all times and devote our everyday living to excellence. The alignment, balance and precision are what all African hairstyles show us. As I look forward to the years to come, as I look back and see our progress, I do see the many journeys that have become my own. What a blessing to be alive and to have been a part of our evolution back to the essentials, the authenticity of what will always carry us no matter where we go. Happy King Day 2017! Dr.C |

What a beautiful message Dr. C. "The Alignment, balance and precision" epitomizes the Sisterlocks system. It has "freed" our hearts and minds, giving us the courage to embrace our own individual beauty - to free our hair! I feel privileged and grateful as a Certified Sisterlocks Consultant for the past 10 years, to be able to witness this journey unfold for those I service. All the best to you in the years to come! This year will be a great year for the women in the Army, regulations have finally approved small locks "Sisterlocks" for female soldiers. I can't wait to help them with their journey. Bye wigs and weaves!

That is great news. I wish that was the case when I came into the Army. In 1983, I chose to cut mine very short, so I would be care free of the regulations, it took forever to grow out.

Belated HNY 2017, and thank you Dr. C for that inspired, motivational, and enlightening commentary on the fact that we are following in the footsteps of Dr. King by being true to who we are as "Drum Majors" for black hair care in our Sisterlocks businesses. I'm sure Dr. King would be proud to know that he has inspired you to inspire us to be the BEST that we can be, at whatever we do as Sisterlock professionals, by providing alignment, balance and precision in the hair care we provide that serves to uplift, empower and transform the lives of the people we serve... Thank you & Bless you Dr C

"Being unsteady with ourselves breeds instability in the world." This resonates so much in my spirit and it echoes that first time I saw you Dr.C, on video talking about Sisterlocks curing a condition we didn't even know we had. But once that condition was rectified, the strength of a community emerged. Dr King would be proud Dr.C. Thank you for this call to keep it going!

Happy MLK Holiday! Sister locks has empowered me to let freedom ring through my hair! Thanks to Sister locks my hair is a positive reflection of the NATURAL beauty that God bestowed upon our race. Contrary to lies that most of us grew up believing, we have GREAT hair that when of chemicals, can actually grow long, healthy and strong. My natural hair is LONGER than the hair extensions and goddess braids that I wore for years. Thank you, Dr. C for making my dream of having natural, grown from my scalp, long free flowing hair a reality! :-)
