It seems like, "all my life I've had to fight!" I had to fight my naps. Everybody knows I had to fight the State for the right to do Sisterlocks, my way. And another big fight has been to get you to see that Sisterlocks products are the best thing for your Sisterlocks. I'm gonna need you to know that...before it's too late!
Avoid build-up, by any means necessary! The damage caused by using non-Sisterlocks products is best avoided because trying to get rid of build-up is an arduous task. If you find your locks are mushy, packed with lint and/or ooze a discolored liquid when you gently squeeze them after shampooing...you've got build-up.
The remedy: The best thing you can do is step away from the products you've been using and turn to the Sisterlocks Starter Shampoo. It's a clarifying shampoo and will help to break down the product build-up. Apply the Starter Shampoo to wet hair and work into suds, making certain the product covers the length of the locks. Leave on for about 10 minutes, rinse. Apply shampoo again, suds like normal and rinse thoroughly. Do this for several weeks and discontinue the use of the heavy, oil-based products that caused the build-up. In fact, you may want to avoid using anything but Starter, for a while. Eventually, you'll be able to add Sisterlocks moisturizers and other shampoo formulas, however, a sudsing with the Starter is still advised every 4-6 weeks or prior to a re-tightening.
