| Jo Thibodeaux, CA | I have
been considering getting locks. I started talking to people who
had locks. Then, one person said that I maybe should try
Sisterlocks. So, I went to the computer and googled "Sisterlocks"
and I am so amazed. This is for me, this is what I've been waiting
for, a natural solution for my hair. I am so excited and can't
wait until I can call someone to make an appointment to have it
done. Today is Sunday, so I have to at least wait until tomorrow to try and contact someone. Thanks | |
| Edris Ball, England | Sun, 27 Apr 2008 |
Hi, I live in the UK
and I would like to find a salon that does Sisterlocks.
Please send me info about where I can find a salon in Manchester,
England. Hello Edris. Please see links on Home Page for our Consultants and Trainees in England. Also, we will be training there at the end of May. If there is not yet someone in your area who does Sisterlocks, this is your chance to be trained or to encourage someone local to take our training. (Dr. C) |
| Maisha Carter, LA | Sun, 27 Apr 2008 | Hi, I live in Shreveport,
LA and there are several beauty shops that do Sisterlocks, but I
have noticed that your registry does not have any certified
consultants or trainees in this area. I am looking for somene
certified to do my locks as I do not want to travel 3 hrs. to Dallas, or 4
hrs. to Baton
Rouge. Hello Maisha. Our complete listing of Certified Consultants and Trainees is to be found on this site. Click on the appropriate links on the Home Page. (Dr. C) |
| Emmie Spivey, OH | Sun, 27 Apr 2008 | I've had Sisterlocks installed in February, 2007 and I absolutely love them. I have not regretted it for one minute. I started with about 1 inch of natural hair. For anyone having doubts about what Sisterlocks can do for your hair and your self- esteem, follow my journey at lovinmylocs2@blogspot.com. |
| Sandra Charlton, Bromley | Sun, 27 Apr 2008 | I
have recently had Sisterlocks and have a problem with white tips from the
hair that has shed and has embedded itself in the lock. It
makes the hair look dirty. Do you have any suggestions on what can
be done about this? Hello Sandra. It is difficult sometimes to tell from just a description what the actual problem is. If I've understood what you are describing, the white tips are the damaged ends of the hair strands (not the hair follicle or hair that is shedding) and can be clipped off in a grooming session with your consultant. Some hair types are prone to this problem, and the tips usually show up in the front area of the head. Have your consultant call me if they would like some tips on how to handle this. It is a very manageable situation with regular maintenance. (Dr. C) |

Hi,
The locks look good. Do you know
anyone in Greensboro,
NC who does Sisterlocks? I just like the real small
locks. |
| Curline Murray, Canada | Thu, 24 Apr 2008 | Dear Dr. C - Thank you for your creativeness. I was locking the old fashion way for the last 9 months then decided to Sisterlock after seeing the results on a co-worker. Since then, my 23 yr old daughter and I have had our locks done. We are so impressed and looking forward to years of beautiful, natural hair. For anyone considering Sisterlocks, don't be put off by the price - the process pays for itself considering no more visits to the salon for chemical straightening and braiding. |
| Sandra Robinson, OH | Wed, 23 Apr 2008 | Hi
Dr.Cornwell, Thanks for creating and developing such a dynamic locking method. Moreover, I am grateful for the sisterhood that you have created for women of African Descent throughout the African Diaspora! Before attending the Sisterlocks training class in beautiful Toronto, Ontario back in January, I did some research on the Sisterlocks method, I reached out to several consultants/trainees and was well received by all. I look forward to meeting you someday. I wish you continued success! PS: The consultants/trainees in the Midwest fully embody the essence of Sisterlocks. Special thanks to Pat Hunley, Cincinnati, OH, Paulette Brown, Bloomfield, MI and Elaniece Spicer, Latonia, KY for continuous support. With love and appreciation. Thelocstar, http://thelocstar.webs.com/ Thank you for your kind words and support! (Dr. C) |
| Patricia Adams, NY | Wed, 23 Apr 2008 | Greetings All: I'm a Sisterlocks Trainee and a member of Share Food Program. Being a member of Share, I have agreed to participate in two hours of volunteer service. The first person who responds will receive two hours of free service. I'm available for retightening and new installation. Feel free to contact me via e-mail at niikili@hotmail.com or 718-569-0891. |
| Kadyra Reddick, FL | Mon, 21 Apr 2008 | I just recently became a Certified Consultant. I have had my locks since 2001. I came to Sisterlocks to help my girlfriend and discovered freedom for myself and my daughter. She (my girlfriend) was handicapped with cerebral palsy. She passed away in 2005. Because of Sisterlocks, she felt beautiful. No matter where she was, she was the center of attention. I intend to send her story to the Sisterlocks magazine in the near future. Thank you Dr. C. I am in Orlando, Fl. To get in touch with me, drop me a line at kadyra2001@yahoo.com. Girls, this is the best decision for you hair and life. |
| Robyn O. | Mon, 21 Apr 2008 | I can't
wait to get a back issue in the mail of the
Sisterlocks Journal that I ordered last week. Even though
I have a subscription starting this Spring, '08, I wanted to show some
friends/family members the beauty of having Sisterlocks. Take Care~ |
| Tracie Simmons, FL | Sun, 20 Apr 2008 | I have been "locked" on your website your the past 3 days, reading and re-reading information about Sisterlocks. I am almost convinced that this is what I want. I'm not sure of where I can find someone who is certified to do them in my area. I'm in the Daytona Beach area if anyone is near me!!!! |
| A. M., NC | Fri, 18 Apr 2008 |
Hello All,
I wanted to share my experience with
the Sisterlocks. December, 2006, I started the process. Around
the third month is when I really said, "Ok, I am so feeling my
hair". It is one of the best decisions I have made with my
hair. I love wearing my OWN hair and styling it. It is so low
maintenance and manageable. With working in corporate AMERICA, it
definitely works!! I NEVER have to worry about a BAD hair day
again!! I LOVE my Sisterlocks!!!!! |
| Theresa Connell, IL | Thu, 17 Apr 2008 | I have
been Sisterlocked since 7/7/07 and I am very excited about the upcoming
retightening class that will be coming to Chicago
in May (17th). I have been faithfully going to my Certified
Consultant. I am so dismayed to read about the number of
perpetraters who are not qualified to install Sisterlocks. Before
getting my Sisterlocks, I asked someone who had them and she referred me
to the website. You Sisters who are interested in them should check
the website first before investing your time and money. This is
a huge investment for me and I made a sacrifice to get mine. My
heart goes out to you ladies who had to deal with dishonest people.
It is my hope that after the retightening class, I will be able to do my
own retightenings, but if it is too much for me, I will continue my
regular visits with my Certified Consultant. Retightening your own
hair is not for everyone. I hope I can save some money by doing it
myself. Wish me luck. Still loving my Sisterlocks. |

| Jeannette Waddy-Taylor, CA | Thu, 17 Apr 2008 | Actually, I was on a job site when I admired an African-American
gentleman's naturally locked hair. I inquired immediately about
where I could find a Salon. He replied proudly, "SISTERLOCKS",
so WELCOME into my life. I've been waiting for you and will be
checking out a local Consultant. I loved the informative site,
and am going forward. Please keep me updated, I will do the
same. PEACE |
| Pamela Suggs Imafidon, GA | Wed, 16 Apr 2008 | My daughter and I have had our Sisterlocks for about 4 months. We both love our Sisterlocks because we can change our hair styles often! |
| Monica Campbell, TX | Mon, 14 Apr 2008 | Today is
my 3 year Anniversary/Birthday! I just wanted to say that I have not
once regretted getting Sisterlocks, nor do I ever have any intentions of
revisiting relaxers! Read my hair journey on: http://moniqacamp.blogspot.com. Thank you so much, Dr. C! I've never felt as free to express me! Monica |

Hi All |
| Alibaster Howell, CO | Thu, 10 Apr 2008 | I have
had my Sisterlocks for three years. I have been nothing but ecstatic
ever since. People stop me and ask me about them all the time.
I have had to start carrying my loctician's cards around. People who
have not seen me in a while marvel at them because of the growth. I
did a lot of research before I discovered the perfect solution for
me. Thank you Sisterlocks! Ali H |
| Elaniece Spicer, Latonia, KY | Wed, 9 Apr 2008 | For the person looking for a
consultant in the Cincinnati area, feel free to contact me and I
can assist you. I am a certified consultant and I can also assist you in getting in contact with other consultants and trainees in the Cincy area. kentuckykinks@ureach.com |
| Ofo Gaddes, UK | Sun, 6 Apr 2008 | I've had my Sisterlocks just over 2 months after having worn braidlocks for over 2 years. I was one of those who thought Sisterlocks 'too expensive'. But 2 yrs down the line, several problems emerged with the traditional locking method. I painstakingly took down my locs in September and saved the money to have my Sisterlocks installed. In January, I travelled to Ghana where I was locked by Ama (certified trainee). I am so happy I finally got them and I only wish I had done this sooner. From my experience of locs, I can honestly say that for me, the Sisterlocks method of locking has proved superior to my previous method. |

Hi,
I just did the BC on 3/14/08 and I love
my TWA. I'm currently looking for a Certified Sisterlocks Consultant
or trainee to start my Sisterlocks Journey. I would like to
volunteer as a Live Model in the Charlotte,
NC Trainee sessions in October. If this is at all possible,
please let me know. If not, please let me know how to get in touch
with the Certified Sisterlocks Consultants in my area who are not
listed. Thanks | |

re: Sisterlocks in
the work place;
I've had Sisterlocks for 1 yr and can
assure you that I've not had one complaint about them. In fact, most
of the positive, unsolicited remarks are from caucasians. They are
absolutely intrigued with the locks and ask about the process.
Sisterlocks work well in the corporate world because you can style
them to look like a nice neat curly style. Because of society's
continued exposure to natural hair, it seems to be more accepted. No
reports of any problems here in Seattle...I
love my Sisterlocks! | |
| Ava Dunn, PA | Fri, 4 Apr 2008 | I am a 54 year old African American woman who is tired of hair weaves and getting twisties. I am interested in something more natural. I am very interested in Sisterlocks but I have no idea where to start, who to talk to or anything. I would appreciate a response with some direction so I can get started. I have spent so much money changing my hair because I work in a professional setting and appearance means everything. Please help. Thank you in advance. |

Hi,
I just see that in September,
2008 Barbados
will have a 4-day training, which is fantastic, but there is no
registration folder for Barbados,
only for London.
If you go to click, you will see London information only; nothing for
Barbados.
Please check it out. I also would like to know if I have to
stay in the hotel while I am in Barbados
because I have family in Barbados so
I would like to find out if it is a must to occupy the hotel room
or, I can stay with my family and be on time for the courses.
Please let me know because this is my oportunity to complete this
course Hello Rosa. Stay Tuned! The additional info for Barbados will be posted very soon. Thanks for your interest. (Dr. C) |
| CoCo Finn, IL | Thu, 3 Apr 2008 |
Dr. C.,
Has anyone mentioned that the
starter shampoo seems to be excessively drying to the scalp? I have
encountered several who love the locks but complain to high heavens about
the starter shampoo. Additionally, the spray moisturizer is a bit
heavy when applied full strength. Some of us mix with water as it is
too expensive to discard. I am not slamming, just thought you should
know. Hello CoCo. Thanks for the feedback. Try diluting the Starter Shampoo as well. It will still do the job at 1/2 dilution. The Spray Moisturizer is meant to be used very lightly between shampoos as a freshener. The Moisture Treatment can be used as the primary moisturizer at every shampooing. (Dr. C) |
| Amba Mpoke-Bigg, GA | Wed, 2 Apr 2008 | To Aba in Ghana: My twin sister in Accra, Ama, is a consultant trainee. You can contact her by email at amagdadson@gmail.com. |
| Sherry R., FL | Wed, 2 Apr 2008 | I love
your website. It is what I have been looking for. My last
relaxer was in Dec., 2007. I am trying to go natural and Sisterlocks
is for me. Can I get Sisterlocks with natural and relaxed hair? |
| Seliesha B. WI | Wed, 2 Apr 2008 | Hello to all my nappy & happy sisters. I am not
Sisterlocked yet, but have been contemplating strongly. I haven't
relaxed my hair since May, 2007. I've been wearing braided styles
and sew-ins. I have cut most of the relaxer off of the ends of my
hair. I would like to lock my hair to avoid going back to the
"creamy crack". However, I'm not sure how I will react to the initial
process. I understand its a huge committment. I was wondering
if, during the beginning stages, I could wear a wig over my
Sisterlocks; not everyday, but just to church and on days where I
have court appearances for work. Please advise. Thank you.
I wouldn't! (Personally, I've never seen a wig that looks as good as our own natural hair.) My suggestion is that you wait until you're truly ready for the transition. Then get a proper Sisterlocks conaultation where your consultant installs 8-12 or so test locks in a cluster so that you can actually see what your hair is going to look like. Good luck to you! (Dr. C) |
| Catherine Quintero, IL | Tue, 1 Apr 2008 | I actually took my locks out with conditioner and a precise pen! I know it sounds crazy, but I started playing with the tips and now I have fully taken them out, and I am considering Sisterlocks. I have to cut only a small amount of my hair, the locks that were dyed blond lost the most hair, but I want to tell you all that it is possible. |
| "Adorable One" | Tue, 1 Apr 2008 | I made an appointment to get my Sisterlocks in one week. I am having some concerns about my scalp being dry and not being able to use any form of conditioner on it. I'm also concerned about the cost of maintaining Sisterlocks. $500 is a lot of money for locks. |
| Lynn Foster, NC | Tue, 1 Apr 2008 |
Dr. C.,
I've gotten some lint in my
Sisterlocks....Any suggestions on getting it out...or should I cover it
with a dye/rinse? Thanks for any suggestions. ...Still enjoying my locks No other way but to carefully pick it out - then take care not to use fluffy towels or wear fuzzy sweaters, etc. Daily "lint checks" by loved oned is also a good preventive measure. (Dr. C) |
